BURNS, OR — Crews continue to fight several fast growing wildfires that have burned 368,961 of southeast Oregon rangeland. As of Saturday morning, the Buzzard Complex, burning 45 miles northeast of Burns, was 20% contained. Officials said over 1,200 firefighters are on the frontlines, working to protect property, structures and even livestock. Heavy air tankers, single engine air tankers, helicopters, fire engines, hand crews, bull dozers and other equipment were on scene all Friday, and will work around the clock to protect residences and limit fire spread as much as possible.
Officials said difficult terrain, combined with extremely dry fuels and hot and windy conditions gave firefighters a steady challenge Friday. At last report, one barn was lost.
Those living in the Crowley Riverside Road area currently under a Level One Evacuation Notice.
