(NEW YORK) — Matt Damon took a different approach to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge: He poured toilet water on himself.
Why? Damon is a co-founder of Water.org, a non-profit organization that provides access to safe water and sanitation to communities in need outside the U.S. The actor, who was nominated by his pal Ben Affleck and his faux rival Jimmy Kimmel, notes in his Ice Bucket Challenge video that there is a drought in California, and that “not everybody has access to a clean drink of water, and there are about 800 million people in the world who don’t, and so dumping a clean bucket of water on my head seemed a little crazy.”
In the clip, we see Damon scoop water out of a toilet in his home into a bucket filled with ice. He then goes outside and dumps the water on his head, before challenging George Clooney, whom he described as his favorite actor; U2 singer Bono, his “favorite musician”; and Tom Brady, “the greatest quarterback of all time.”
Superman has also taken the Ice Bucket Challenge. Henry Cavill, in costume as the Man of Steel for the upcoming sequel Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, and co-star Amy Adams were drenched on the set of their film. Cavill was actually doused with cold water several times.
Idris Elba took on the challenge during his appearance on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! Tuesday night. The British actor nominated Bradley Cooper, his No Good Deed co-star Taraji P. Henson, and Prince Harry.
