BEND, OR — Much of Central Oregon woke up to thick smoke Thursday morning, but it wasn’t from a new, local wildfire. The Deception Complex southwest of Oakridge has burned over 800 acres of dense timber, which is producing a great amount of smoke. And because of high elevation winds, that smoke was pumped into Central Oregon, starting Wednesday evening.
The smoke impacted air quality numbers as well. The Department of Environmental Quality declared Bend’s air quality Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups. The Sisters Air Quality is Moderate. The Prineville and Madras air quality numbers are good.
Visit the DEQ’s Website for the latest air quality numbers.
