SALEM, OR — Governor John Kitzhaber has ordered that all flags at public institutions throughout Oregon be flown at half-staff on Thursday in remembrance of the 2001 terror attacks.
“We come together as Oregonians and as a nation on September 11 to honor those who lost their lives in the attacks, and to pay tribute to the brave first responders who aided fellow Americans,” Kitzhaber said. “As each year passes, we’re reminded of our collective strength and will to build stronger communities through service and charity. This will be our legacy, and our way to show that we will never forget.”
