Cover Oregon’s Mistake Costs Residents

Cover Oregon LogoSALEM, OR — Seven hundred seventy-five Oregon households will owe money to the federal government because of an error in calculating tax credits.  Cover Oregon reported that most of the identified tax credit errors were for less than $2 per month. Four percent had errors of more than $100 per month.  The miscalculation happened when Cover Oregon utilized an incorrect formula to calculate tax credits for people purchasing private health plans through the state’s insurance marketplace.

Cover Oregon granted more than 42,000 families tax credits beginning in January.  Officials have about 3,400 applications left to review.
