LAKE OSWEGO, OR — The band KISS shed their signature makeup during a charity benefit for the Oregon Military Museum. The $2,500 per ticket gala Sunday night in Lake Oswego raised more than a million dollars for the renovation of the Oregon Military Museum, located at Camp Withycombe in Clackamas.
The museum is named for the father of Kiss lead guitarist Tommy Thayer. Brig. Gen. James B. Thayer, now 93, is a World War II hero who helped liberate a Nazi death camp. Renovations are expected to cost $15-million. KISS played an acoustic set featuring 14 songs, including an unplugged version of “Rock and Roll All Nite.”
