BEND, OR — Online public school charter school Oregon Connections Academy will host a free party for families who are interested in the education alternative.
The event is also a chance for existing students of the Academy to meet in-person, sometimes for the first time.
“We’re constantly enrolling new families,” says ORCA math teacher Phil Miscovich. “We’ve had some in the area who have been here for a while and some who are newer. So this is an opportunity for them to get to know each other a little bit face-to-face.”
Miscovich adds that many students decide to enroll in September, even after the public school term has begun.
The “Getting Started with Oregon Connections Academy” party takes place from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Bend Community Center.
Oregon Connections Academy is authorized by the Scio School District and taught by state-certified teachers. Enrollment for the tuition-free online public education is still open.
