La Pine Man Dies In Single Vehicle Crash

LA PINE, Ore. — A La Pine man died in a single vehicle crash early yesterday.

Deschutes County, Oregon State Police, and the La Pine Fire Department responded to a report of an injured man lying by Paulina Lake Road.

29 year old Nickolas Hurlbut of La Pine apparently failed to make a left turn. His vehicle went airborne and came to rest upside down next to the road.

Hurlbut was able to walk about three-quarters of a mile toward La Pine until he was spotted by a driver who called 911.

Hurlbut was flown to St. Charles Bend, where he died of his injuries.

He was not wearing a seat belt. Police say speed may have been a factor in the crash.
