BPRD To Remove Several Trees At McKay Park

BEND, Ore. — During planning for the Colorado Dam Safe Passage project, several large trees were determined to need removal.

During planning for upcoming park construction, the large Cottonwood trees were evaluated by a certified arborist. The arborist found that most of the large trees are diseased and/or rotting.

In this condition, the trees pose a falling hazard to park users. As a result, the Cottonwoods and other dead or dying trees in the park will be removed.

The removed trees will be repurposed in river bank restoration, and the District will plant new shade trees in the park.
