umpqua-forest-landslide

Roseburg, Ore- Forest Service officials are reporting two road closures on the North Umpqua Ranger District resulting from last weekend’s heavy rains. Little River Road 27 is closed due to a landslide at milepost 5.6, five miles west of Lake in the Woods Campground. Lookout Mountain Road 2703 is closed at the intersection with Little River Road 27 due to road damage resulting from multiple plugged culverts and small slides. For information about road conditions on the North Umpqua Ranger District, call the district office at (541) 496-3535.

South Umpqua River Road 28 remains closed near milepost 25 because of a landslide. The slide occurred just west of Skillet Creek Campground on the Tiller Ranger District. Visitors wanting to access Skillet Creek Campground or any location east of the slide should contact the Tiller Ranger District at (541) 825-3100 for alternate routes.

Visitors to the Umpqua National Forest should be prepared for adverse weather and winter road conditions. Plan on packing a winter survival kit containing traction devices, a shovel, saw or ax, flares, flashlight, food and water, and matches in your vehicle.

Please contact Miles Barkhurst at (541) 957-3417 for questions regarding road conditions on the Umpqua National Forest.
