Bend, Ore. – Today Officers received multiple reports of burglaries and thefts from vehicles in the NorthWest Crossing Neighborhood. Multiple victims reported items stolen from their vehicles.
During several of these incidents, garage doors and pet doors were left unlocked allowing the suspects access to garages. Property was stolen from the garages as well as vehicles parked inside the garages. In addition, vehicles parked outdoors were entered and property was stolen. This includes a firearm that was stolen from an unlocked vehicle.
Thus far, the investigations have determined that only one vehicle was locked. In this incident, a large rock was used to break a side window. A backpack had been left in plain view and was stolen from the vehicle. In the other cases, the suspects specifically targeted unlocked vehicles. This serves as a reminder to lock all vehicles and remove valuables or secure them out of sight.
