Madras, Ore. – Students at COCC’s Madras campus were notified of a lockdown situation this morning. Students, Staff and others were told not to come to the campus and to stay in lockdown mode if they were on campus.

Type of Incident: Discharge Firearm
Location of Incident: 1st and ‘C’ Street Madras, Jefferson County Oregon.
Narrative:
On 01-26-15, at about 7:21 a.m., Officers with the Madras Police Department, OSP and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the area of 1st and ‘C’ Street for a report of shots fired. An initial investigation has determined the individuals involved are known to each other and the incident likely involves narcotics.
The suspect vehicle involved is described as a gray/silver Mercedes passenger car with tinted windows. There have been no reports of anyone being injured. The Madras Police Department is actively investigating the shooting and the motive behind it.
This was not a random act, it was not a drive by shooting and there is no immediate public safety threat. As the investigation continues and more details can be made available a press release will follow.
