Clackamas County, Ore. – Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are currently investigating a vehicle versus bicycle crash on highway 99E near milepost 7 (SE Silver Springs Road) in Clackamas County.
At approximately 5:40 P.M., OSP troopers responded to a reported vehicle versus bicycle crash on highway 99E near milepost 7, in Clackamas County. According to OSP Sergeant Yvette Shephard, early information indicates that a man dressed in dark clothing was walking a bicycle on the roadway in the center median (turn lane) without reflective clothing or lights on the bicycle. The man, identified as 54 year-old HARVEY G. MACMURRAY, of Oregon City, was struck by a Toyota Tacoma pickup operated by RALPH V. HITTER SR., age 85, of Oregon City, which was making a left turn into an adjacent business. The pedestrian was transported with serious injury to OHSU.
Sgt. Shephard advised one lane of travel is open each direction but the center lanes are likely to remain blocked for about another hour while investigators complete work on the scene.
OSP was assisted at the scene by the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Department, Oregon Department of Transportation and Clackamas County Fire District.
