Grizzlies' Guard Vince Carter Out at least a Week with Foot Injury

iStock/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — A key member for one of the best teams in the NBA will be out of action at least a week as Memphis Grizzlies reserve guard Vince Carter will undergo evaluation on a tendon injury in his left foot.

Carter left Thursday’s game against the Denver Nuggets in the second quarter, and an MRI revealed the injury. He’ll be re-evaluated next week.

At 34-12, the Grizzlies have the second-best record in the Western Conference, and third-best record in the NBA.

Fortunately for Memphis, while Carter is a valuable role player at this point in his career, the team can rely more on recently-acquired forward Jeff Green. In nine games this season with the Grizzlies, Green is averaging 12.9 points and 4.1 rebounds while playing 28.6 minutes per game.

The 38-year-old Carter is a former All-Star and is playing in his 17th NBA season. In 44 games off the bench for Memphis, Carter is averaging a career-low 6.0 points per game.
