Surprising Ways to Spend Valentine's Day, Whether You're Single or Taken

Shalom Ormsby/Blend Images/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — If you’re looking for an alternative to red roses and the quiet candlelight dinner this Valentine’s Day, here are some uncommon ideas to shake up the tradition, whether you’re coupled up or flying solo.

Embark on a Romantic Movie Moments Tour

On Location Tours, New York’s TV and movie tour company, is launching a new pop-up bus tour just in celebration of Valentine’s Day.

If you ever wondered how Harry met Sally, now you can relive some of your favorite scenes on the Romantic Movie Moments Tour.

You’ll visit over 30 locations from movies like When Harry Met Sally, Sweet Home Alabama, Serendipity, You’ve Got Mail, Friends with Benefits and Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The tour will depart Saturdays and Sundays in February at 3 p.m. Tickets cost $38 for adults and $28 for children.

Indulge in a Kimye-Themed Dinner

Last year, Brooklyn restaurant Brucie dedicated its Valentine’s Day menu to power couple Beyoncé and Jay-Z.

For 2015, it’s all about Kim and Kanye.

For a prix fixe of $100 a person, you can enjoy six courses from two menus: one dedicated to Kim, and one to Kanye. Mix and match dishes like “Stuffed Kalamari” and “Gold Digger.” Or share the salmon entrée appropriately titled “The North West.”

Chef-Owner Zahra Tangorra and Chef de Cuisine Jennie Lupo are also hosting a party in the tented, heated yard of the restaurant with a bar, DJ and ice luge. Tax, tip and alcohol are not included in the prix fixe.

Cuddle at Cuddle Con 2015

An Oregon-based snuggling service called Cuddle Up to Me will host the world’s first-ever Cuddle Con this Valentine’s Day. The event will run from noon until 8 p.m. and will offer cuddling classes, massage workshops with celebrity massage therapist Meagan Holub, yoga, dance lessons and more. Tickets are priced at $25 each. Couples, singles and groups of friends are all invited.

Party at Unique USA’s “Back to the Future”-themed Prom

For the third year in a row, Los Angeles-based party company Unique USA is hosting its annual “fake prom.”

This year’s theme is the Enchantment Under the Sea dance from the classic film Back to the Future. For $45, ticketholders receive an open bar, a cookie decorating bar, 360-degree Smilebooth “prom” portraits, DIY corsage+boutonniere stations and more.

Both couples and singles are welcome. If you’re looking to meet your sweetheart, choose the “single and ready to mingle” ticket to gain access to the “singles only” lounge (also priced at $45). You’ll also be sent a questionnaire to help match you up with someone at the party.

Give the Gift of Christian Grey

Skip the flowers and candy this year and send the limited-edition Fifty Shades of Grey bear. Inspired by the bestselling book, the bear features smoldering gray eyes, a suit and satin tie, a mask and mini handcuffs. Whether for your beloved or a friend, you can order for the Fifty Shades fan in your life for $89.99.
