National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend Celebrated In Bend

Girl Scouts and Addy Mac’s Team Up to Celebrate National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend
Samoas Girl Scout Cookie-lovers Can Join the Fun February 27-March 1

Bend, Ore.- Tomorrow through March 1st, Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington (GSOSW) invites the community to participate in National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend, a celebration of all the fun and learning girls experience by selling Girl Scout Cookies. Enjoyed across the country, this special weekend will give local Girl Scouts the chance to show off the five skills learned through the program at booths throughout Oregon and SW Washington.

In honor of National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend and the 40th anniversary of Samoas cookies, GSOSW is partnering with local ice cream maker Addy Mac’s Creamery for a limited run of handmade Samoas ice cream available by the cone or cup! Addy Mac’s will scoop this delectable limited edition flavor at The Lot in Bend (745 NW Columbia Street) Saturday, February 28 from 1-8 p.m.

While the Samoas-inspired treat is only available February 28, Girl Scouts will continue the celebration by highlighting all the ways girls and troops use their cookie money to do wonderful things for local communities. The 40 Girl Scout Stories series, started February 4, features a new story each day at girlscoutsosw.org through the end of the Girl Scout Cookie Program on March 15.

“Girl Scout Cookies are delicious, but they are also about so much more than that,” said Karen Hill, CEO of Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington. “They are about teaching girls basic business skills and instilling a lifelong sense of civic responsibility that creates leaders. At GSOSW, we have so many amazing girls doing positive things – like service projects at local food banks or selecting and donating toys and game to hospitalized children – with their cookie money. During National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend and beyond, we will celebrate these stories while helping girls meet their cookie goals for this year.”

Girl Scout Cookies will be on sale through March 15 at booths throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington. Customers can find a booth near them using the Cookie Locator at girlscoutsosw.org. This year’s program welcomes two new cookies to the line-up: Rah-Rah Raisins, a hearty oatmeal cookie; and Toffee-tastic, a sweet and crunchy gluten free variety available in limited supply for $5 per box. All other varieties are sold for $4 per box. For more information about the Girl Scout Cookie Program, visit girlscoutsosw.or
