Portland, Ore., – AAA projects 37.2 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more from home during the Memorial Day holiday weekend, a 4.7 percent increase from the 35.5 million people who traveled last year and the highest travel volume for the holiday in 10 years.
In the Pacific Region (AK, CA, HI, OR, WA), Memorial Day travel is expected to increase by 4.6 percent, with nearly 6 million taking trips.
AAA of Oregon’s Marie Dodds say gasoline prices are about 80 cents lower that prices last year during the 3 day weekend. About 3 dollars a gallon on average in Oregon. Last year, it was 3.87 a gallon. In Bend, you can find a few stations selling regular unleaded for around $2.90 a gallon
