State Police Investigate Fatal Crash East Of Lowell

Lowell, Ore. – According to Sergeant Mike Brewster yesterday at about 4:13PM, troopers responded to the report of a head on crash on HWY 58 near milepost 19. It was learned that a 1997 Ford Ranger, operated by 33 year old Jason HAYS, of Eugene, was traveling eastbound on HWY 58 when it left the roadway for an unknown reason. He lost control and reentered the roadway, striking a westbound 2003 Chevrolet Pickup operated by 53 year old Johnnie GONZALES, of Bonanza, Oregon.

A passenger in the 2003 Chevrolet, 50 year old Katherine GONZALES of Bonanza, was pronounced deceased on scene.

Johnnie GONZALES and HAYS were transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center for serious injuries.
