OSP Investigates Fatal Hit and Run In Salem

Salem, Ore. – This morning at about 12:25AM, the Salem Police Department received a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on the Salem Parkway (Hwy 99E) at Cherry Ave in Northeast Salem.

According to Oregon State Police Sergeant Mike Iwai, when police arrived they found 36 year old Travis J. LANE, of Salem, deceased. Initial witness information indicated that LANE was struck by an unknown vehicle that left the scene after the crash.

Initial investigation was unable to determine LANE’s positioning on the roadway.

Several hours after the crash a subject called Salem Police dispatch and said she might have hit something. The subject, 36 year old Kimberly A MALM, of Salem, was eventually arrested for Manslaughter II, DUII, Reckless Driving, Reckless Endangering and Fail to Perform the Duties of a driver Felony.
