Young Women Can Explore Forest Service Careers

Bend, Ore. – Discover Your Forest and the Deschutes National Forest are seeking applicants for the Young Women’s Career Camp, June 16-18, 2015.

Young women from around Central Oregon in 10-12 grades are invited to apply for the camp which will be hosted on the Deschutes National Forest as a three day, two night camp out. During the camp, female members of the Forest Service and Discover Your Forest will supervisor and mentor the young women who will be learning about a variety of specialties and careers in federal land management including wildlife biology, engineering, botany, archaeology, fire and more.

This combined effort by the Friends group, Discover Your Forest, and the Deschutes National Forest is intended to introduce young women to careers in natural resources. This camp is provided free of charge to Central Oregon young women. Transportation will be provided to and from communities from which young women have been chosen to participate and all meals and sleeping quarters will be provided as well.
