Madras, Ore. – Eighteen-year old Isaac “Ike” Bemrose from Madras is a member of the 2015 graduating class at Oregon Connections Academy (ORCA), and credits the state’s leading virtual public charter school with helping him pursue interests in and out of the online classroom.
ORCA’s Class of 2015 is comprised of approximately 330 students from all over Oregon. The school is hosting a commencement ceremony tomorrow in Portland at 6 pm at the Oregon Convention Center, 777 NE Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
“Oregon Connections Academy has helped me succeed both in school and outside of school,” said Ike Bemrose. “I’m sure that if I had attended a bricks-and-mortar school, I would not have as many opportunities as I have now. For example, I am currently working two jobs and the Oregon Connections Academy offers flexible school hours, which makes it easier to juggle a work schedule and academics. My teachers have also gone above and beyond and they are some of the main reasons I have as many options as I do now.”
Ike doesn’t have any immediate plans for after graduation, but he is interested in taking some college biology courses in the future so he can start his own nuisance wildlife pest control business.
