Oregon Speaker Of The House Says Minimum Wage Efforts Will Continue

Salem, Ore. – As lawmakers head towards a close of the 2015 session, Oregon House Speaker Tina Kotek is disappointing that a minimum wage hike was not approved. She vows to continue the effort when lawmakers aren’t in session.

“I am greatly disappointed that the legislature will not take action to raise Oregon’s minimum wage this session.

In the coming months, a legislator-led work group of business leaders, labor advocates, and economic experts will continue discussing how to increase the minimum wage. While I am glad that the conversation will continue, the conversation alone is not enough. We need to take action for the thousands of hard-working Oregonians who will continue to struggle to pay rent and buy groceries, wondering every day if they can meet their family’s basic needs.”
