Glide, Ore. – The Cable Crossing Fire, located 5 miles east of Glide near Highway 138 East, mile post 23 jumped containment lines yesterday at approximately 5:00 p.m.
As aviation and ground resources moved to attack the new spot fire, a wind shift caused the fire to quickly grow out of control. At this time, the fire is estimated at 500 acres and is moving in a southeast direction. Currently, no homes are threatened and no evacuations have been ordered.
Oregon Department of Forestry Incident Management Team 3 has been called in to manage the Cable Crossing incident, and will arrive on the Cable Crossing Fire this morning and assume command at 10:00 a.m.
