Bend, Ore. – The City of Bend Police Department took three hours on Monday to focus on enforcing distracted driving, specifically the use of cellphones while driving.
The Bend Police Department assigned eight staff members on the two locations to observe drivers operating motor vehicles to determine if they were using their cellphones while operating a motor vehicle.
During this event, officers stopped 63 total vehicles in a three hour period. The following chart breaks down the activity by the officers by type of citation. Officers impounded one vehicle and warned other drivers on 11 varying violations.
