Prineville, Ore.— The closure area surrounding July’s Corner Creek Fire on Paulina Ranger District of the Ochoco National Forest has been reduced again, allowing access to Mud Springs Campground and South Prong Trailhead.
The forest south of Black Canyon Wilderness, east of Forest Service Road 5840, and north of the 5840 / 5850 junction remains closed due to safety concerns, such as hazard trees. Forest Service Road 5840 is open to public travel.
Black Canyon Wilderness and all trailheads that access it are open to the public.
The Corner Creek fire started by lightning on June 29, about 11 miles south of Dayville, and grew to nearly 30,000 acres before it was contained. The fire area will continue to be monitored and patrolled through the fall by local fire managers.
