More Details On Fatal Santiam Crash, Victim From Wilsonville

Sisters, Ore. – This afternoon around 2 p.m. a pick-up truck driven by a Wilsonville woman collided with a school bus on the Santiam Pass.

According to Sergeant Dave Pond, a 1993 Chevrolet Pickup was traveling westbound on Highway 20 when it crossed the center line and struck an eastbound school bus. The Chevrolet came to a rest in the westbound ditch after the impact.

32 year old Camille Nelson of Wilsonville died at the scene.

The school bus had a total of 43 members of Sheldon High School Soccer Team, including the driver, coaches and students. The only injuries reported were minor to a couple occupants.

The Sisters School District sent a school bus and transported the students to Sisters Middle School were counselors were made available.

Highway 20 was closed for several hours due to the wreckage and the investigation. The roads were wet at the time of the crash which is still being investigated.
