Portland, Ore.- Northwest credit unions generously raised $248,000 for six regional Children’s Miracle Network hospitals during the Roaring 20’s Dinner and Auction in Portland last night, benefiting Credit Unions for Kids.

The auction is a legacy event at the Northwest Credit Union Association’s annual Amplify Convention. Now the national credit union movement’s “charity of choice,” Credit Unions for Kids was born here in Oregon and Southwest Washington in 1986, when a group of credit union enthusiasts started collecting money for Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.

Ten years later their fundraising model was adopted nationally. Credit unions have since contributed more than $130 million to the 170 Children’s Miracle Network hospitals. Money raised last night will stay in the Northwest to specifically benefit the six CMN hospitals in Oregon and Washington.

The Northwest Credit Union Association is the not-for-profit trade association representing over 160 of Oregon and Washington’s credit unions and their 5.2 million members.
