Cascade Middle School And Vehicle Damaged By Gunfire

Bend, Ore. – Bend Police responded to the report of shots fired in the area of SW Mt. Washington and SW Century Drive. Neighbors living in the Southern Crossing Apartment Complex (19699 Mountaineer Way) reported hearing several shots from a firearm.

The residents reported seeing the suspect with what they believed to be a firearm, walking in the close vicinity of both the school and the apartments.

Officers with the Bend Police Department responded and attempted to locate the person responsible for firing the weapon. The officers were unable to locate the suspect, but found there was damage from a firearm round to at least two separate areas of Cascade Middle School.

There were no activities at the school when the suspect shot at the building. Two Bend La Pine Schools maintenance employees were inside the building at the time of the incident. One of the employee’s vehicles was damaged by the suspect.

This incident is still under investigation at this time. The Bend Police Department takes actions like this very seriously and would like any information from the public to help identify the suspect responsible for shooting at the school.
