(NEW YORK) — On his new sitcom, Grandfathered, John Stamos portrays a suave and single restaurateur who discoverers he not only has an adult son, but a granddaughter as well. So does Stamos want kids in real life?
“You have to be careful what you say. I mean, I would love to have children. …But, you know what, I’m so happy now,” the single actor replies. “People say, ‘Live in the moment.’ And I’m like ‘meh,’ but it’s true. Things are so good right now. I’m just so happy that I’m just happy where things are now.”
Stamos said his feelings about having children mirror those of his character in Grandfathered, Jimmy Martino. “It’s sort of what the show is about. There’s something missing in this character’s life and it’s probably kids and he gets it in the first sixty seconds of the show,” he says.
Along with starring in the Fox series that airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. Eastern, Stamos is also set to guest star in Netflix’s new series, Fuller House, debuting next year. Stamos said he’s excited the show will air after years of trying to do a revival. “It’s such an important legacy and a great place to be is Netflix. I’ve been trying to get it back up going for about six or seven years and it just wasn’t the right time for it all to happen and it is now,” he said.
On Fuller House, Candace Cameron-Bure’s character is a widowed mother of three sons, who has her sister Stephanie and friend Kimmy — played by Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber, respectively — move in to help. The show also will feature guest appearances by original stars Stamos, Bob Saget, Dave Coulier and Lori Loughlin.
