Redmond Pedestrian Dies After Struck By Car

Redmond, Ore. – A 65 year old Redmond pedestrian was killed after being struck by a car in a crosswalk at the intersection of SW Canal Boulevard and SW Odem Medo Road Monday night.

Redmond Police say Spencer Robinson White was wearing dark clothing while crossing the intersection against the pedestrian control device when he was struck by a vehicle driven by 57 year old Patricia Rursch of Bend.

White was rushed to St Charles Medical Center in Bend where he later died of his injuries. Alcohol does not appear to be factors in the accident. The Redmond Police Department is requesting assistance from any witnesses to the accident.  If you witnessed the accident or know someone who did please contact (541) 504-3400 or (541) 693-6911.

“The Redmond Police Department’s goal is to make Redmond the safest community in Oregon.” an RPD news release stated.  “We would like to remind our community members to wear bright/reflective clothing during darkness or limited visibility while on or near roadways. The Redmond Police Department would also like to remind drivers to watch for pedestrians while approaching intersections and for pedestrians to obey crosswalk control devices and to make sure it is safe before entering a crosswalk.”

The Redmond Police Department would like to thank the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, Bend Police Department, Redmond Fire and Rescue, and the Deschutes County District Attorney’s Office for assisting with the investigation.
