Bigandt_Photography/iStock/ThinkStock(NEW YORK) — Ukraine has banned Russian planes from entering its airspace, reports the BBC.

The ban comes as Russian gas that is exported to Ukraine, has been stopped by Gazprom.

Gazprom claims Ukraine used up all the gas it had paid for, says the BBC.

Ukraine, on the other hand, claims it stopped purchasing gas from Gazprom because it could buy gas cheaper from Europe.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk made the decision at a televised government meeting. The ban applies to both commercial and military planes, reports the BBC.
