The good news is that online deals are almost as good as the in-store deals, with a few notable door-buster exceptions. Even more interesting is the adoption of mobile-based deals that retailers are offering to entice you to download their store apps and shop through them all year long.
However, the single best day to get a deal is Thanksgiving, specifically on electronics. Ben Glazer of dealnews.com says that while many of those deals are online, TV and laptop doorbuster deals remain a brick-and-mortar phenomenon.
THANKSGIVING DAY
TV DEALS
- Amazon unnamed 50-inch LED available for purchase in the Amazon app only: Time unknown. $149 — the best price ever for a 50-incher.
- Kohl’s Samsung 40-inch: Thanksgiving 6 p.m. $319 plus $90 Kohl’s cash. It’s the best price ever for a Samsung 40-inch.
- Walmart TCL 32-inch with Roku: $125. Thanksgiving 6 p.m.
- Best Buy Samsung 4k 60-inch: $800. Thanksgiving 5 p.m. and online all day.
LAPTOP DEALS
- 15-inch Lenovo Thursday at Fry’s for $217. That’s $137 off that model’s lowest ever price.
- 19.5-inch Dell at Best Buy Thursday 5 p.m. in store and online all day for $329. That’s $170 below current lows.
GAMING CONSOLE BUNDLES
- PlayStation 4 bundle at Kohl’s on Thursday at 6 p.m. for $300 plus $100 Kohl’s cash. This deal beats competitors with that $100 Kohl’s gift card.
- Xbox bundle with two games (Gears of War and Fallout 4) at Dell Home on Thursday at 6 p.m. online only for $299. The addition of Fallout 4 brings an extra $100 value.
