Amazon Releases New Delivery Drone Video Starring Jeremy Clarkson

JOHN MACDOUGALL/AFP/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — The online retailer that allows you to buy pretty much everything may soon be able to deliver everything a lot faster.

Amazon has released a new advertisement showing off Prime Air, its future drone delivery system which boasts shipping times of 30 minutes or less after ordering.

According to Amazon, the Prime Air drones will fly below 400 feet, weigh less than 55 pounds, and may soon be “as normal as seeing mail trucks on the road.”

Naturally the ad includes U.K. TV personality Jeremy Clarkson who signed on with Amazon to develop a new auto show for its video service with former Top Gear hosts James May and Richard Hammond. In the ad, he says the new drone service will be available in “the not too distant future.”

So far there’s no launch date besides “the not too distant future.” Amazon will have to pass certain tests and regulations before this dream becomes a reality. The video is geared toward a U.K. audience and it’s possible the drone delivery could be available across the pond first because of different drone regulations in the U.K. versus the U.S.
