Redmond, Oregon – Redmond Police will be conducting a “virtual ride-along” on Facebook and Twitter. Beginning at approximately noon, Redmond police will post to Facebook and Twitter in near real-time the activities of one Officer has he responds to calls for service, conducts investigations and makes traffic stops. The Redmond Police Department desires to share with the public what a “typical day” looks like.
“Since not everyone has the ability to go out on a real ride-along in a patrol vehicle, RPD will bring the ride-along to everyone,” Lieutenant Keith Knight.
People who follow Redmond police on Facebook and Twitter will begin receiving updates at noon. The “virtual ride-along” will last until approximately midnight. The twelve hours will be split between day shift and night shift. Another officer will be drafting the posts and taking pictures or perhaps short videos to share.
Exact details of an incident will not be disclosed, nor will names of victims, witnesses, arrested or other contacted persons.
