Warm Springs Man’s Death Deemed A Suicide

Deschutes County, Ore. – Deschutes County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue helped recover the body of 33-year-old Mark Kevin Johnson Jr. from a vehicle at bottom of Deschutes River Canyon cliff, found Saturday, two days after his wife, 30-year-old Candelaria Rhoan’s body was found at their Warm Springs home.

Authorities said the recovered vehicle was Johnson’s VW Passat, and the medical examiner had ruled the death a suicide.

Sheriff’s detectives continue to investigate the crash in cooperation with other agencies, including the FBI, Warm Springs Police Department and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

On Thursday, the FBI and police had turned to the public for any leads in the whereabouts of Johnson, who had last been seen at a friend’s home on the reservation on Wednesday around 2 p.m.
