Redmond City Hall Over Budget Due To Unforeseen Costs

Redmond Ore. – Redmond city councilors authorized a $270,000 increase to the city’s Evergreen building structural renovation costs this week, pushing the $11.7 million effort to move City Hall in to the old elementary school over budget.

According to the Community Development Director Heather Richards, the increase is necessary to help cover the $329,506 in expenses related to unforeseen structural issues that contractor Skanska discovered on the northwest side of the building.

Along with additional money, the City Council’s approval Tuesday added a couple more months to the project’s timeline.

Originally, the renovations were expected to be complete by December, but now the finish date is February 2017.
