Prineville Police Want To Donate Bikes to Nonprofit Instead of Auctioning

Prineville, Ore. – Bikes that have been unclaimed which Prineville Police keep in their evidence storage room and then auction off, may soon get donated to people who need them.

The Prineville City councilors will vote today to authorize a new bike program that would allow the Prineville Police Department to give the unclaimed bikes to Family Empowerment Program, a local nonprofit.

The bikes would be repaired if needed by Bicycle Resource of Bend, another nonprofit, and then redistributed back into the Crook County community to folks who need them to get around.
