Ahead of her 30th birthday Saturday, Lohan is reflecting on her journey and putting her troubled past behind her, which includes a DUI, theft convictions and a subsequent probation.

“I wouldn’t call things regrets, per se,” she told Vanity Fair. “I can’t turn back time. But if I could, I would have listened more to my mother and gone back home to N.Y.C. earlier in life and chosen my friends more wisely.”

Lohan told the magazine that she feels “great” about turning 30 and is working on a number of new projects. She’s also is interested in starting a charity and writing a book.

“I hope that my words will connect with those who need some guidance when [or] if they are in a tough place,” she said. “I am grateful that I have a voice, which I can now feel comfortable using as a platform to let people know that we all have ups and downs in life, and we can all come up from the downs if we get in touch with our inner self and spiritual side.”

Lohan also revealed she’s most proud of “being strong and allowing myself to accept my faults, and with that, being the person I am today.”

And how does the Mean Girls actress plan to celebrate on July 2?  She’ll be “in Greece with family and friends.”

“I am actually celebrating it,” Lohan added. “I thought I would be hiding when I realized I was turning 30! It’s different because the way I live my life is different, which I am very grateful for.”
