iStock/Thinkstock(HOUSTON) — Police outside Houston hit speeds of up to up to 118 miles per hour while on a 40-mile chase, pulled off by a pre-teen.

The 12-year-old girl and her 5-year-old sister took their grandmother’s Chevrolet Cruze while she slept on Friday during rush hour, according to police, and barely missed hitting cars while weaving through oncoming traffic.

Investigators said the young driver sideswiped only two cars and no one was injured.

“It’s one of the most serious chases I’ve ever seen,” Montgomery County Attorney JD Lambright said. ” I can’t imagine this was a first time driving experience for her.”

Police were able to track and disable the vehicle using the OnStar technology inside.

The 12-year-old is in juvenile detention until Tuesday when she will face a judge. She faces several felony charges including evading police, stealing property, and deadly conduct. Her sister was staying with relatives as of Saturday.
