Pilot Not Hurt After Crash Landing in Redmond

Redmond, Ore. – A 65 year old pilot was not hurt after crashing his plane at a private runway off Eagle Drive in Redmond Sunday. Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office investigation revealed that the pilot, Berni Breen, of Diamondhead, MS, didn’t like the way the aircraft sounded shortly after takeoff so he returned to the runway. Breen inadvertently forgot to deploy the landing gear prior to landing causing the 2016 Lancair Legacy plane to land on its under carriage damaging the prop.

Breen was the only person in the aircraft during the incident and was not injured during the crash and no one on the ground was injured. The FAA and NTSB were notified of the incident and are investigating.
