Suspect Wanted in Connection Of Missing Bend Woman Is Apprehended

Bend, Ore. – The Redding Record Searchlight is reporting an arrest has been made in connection with the local homicide investigation of 23-year-old Kaylee Saywer, who went missing Sunday.

Redding.com reporting that 31-year-old Edwin Lara was taken into custody while driving on I-5 south of Corning, California.

Sawyer’s family reported her missing Sunday evening after she vanished earlier in the day near Central Oregon Community College’s Bend campus.

Dispatchers said Lara was driving a silver Honda Accord stolen for Yreka, California.

According to authorities, Lara was carrying a gun when officers stopped him.

Lara works at COCC part-time as a campus safety officer.
