Bend, Ore. Deschutes Children’s Foundation is looking for a new Executive Director after Kim McNamer announced her resignation yesterday. McNamer has been the leader of DCF the past 7 years. DCF released the following news release:
Established in 1990, Deschutes Children’s Foundation’s promotes services to the local children and families by providing work space and facility management to non-profits serving children and families at four community campuses throughout Deschutes County.
Today, with gratitude and sadness, the Board of Directors for Deschutes Children’s Foundation announced the resignation of Executive Director Kim McNamer. Board Chair Amanda Miko has formed a transition committee to guide the search for her replacement. McNamer will remain with DCF until mid-October to support a stable transition.
During McNamer’s seven year tenure with the organization, she led the board through a new committee structure and implemented a successful strategic plan. She has been instrumental in furthering DCF’s mission to promote a community of services for children and families by developing new nonprofit partnerships and expanding facility space at East Bend Campus.
McNamer came to Deschutes Children’s Foundation in 2009. In collaboration with the Board of Directors, she brought stability to the organization during challenging economic circumstances. In the following seven years, McNamer met increased fundraising goals, celebrated DCF’s 25th anniversary, and launched a campaign to expand and improve the playground at East Bend Campus. “The Nature Playscape is an extension and expansion of the original vision for our East Bend Campus, which opened in 2008. Construction has begun on this special project and I am committed to ensuring this project’s completion before I leave.
“This decision did not come lightly but I feel that it is time not only for me to explore other opportunities, but also for Deschutes Children’s Foundation to find a new leader who will continue to find success and possible growth opportunities for DCF,” McNamer continued.
“We are grateful to Kim for her dedicated service and wish her well in her future endeavors,” Miko said. “Her leadership in collaboration with the Board of Directors has been a tremendous asset to the organization and her dedication and hard work will be missed. We are sad to see her go but look forward to identifying a new team member to lead Deschutes Children’s Foundation into the future.”
