Youth Tackle Football Program Needs Volunteer Coaches

Bend, Ore. – Fall means football and Bend Park and Recreation District has immediate need for adult volunteers as coaches for youth tackle football teams.

Several teams are filled with students ready to play but do not have a coach at this time.

Program participants are students entering grades 4 and 5. The season begins mid-August and continues to mid-October. Teams practice two to three times per week with games played on Sundays. Coaches select practice days and times.

“Volunteer coaches must enjoy working with youth and be able to create a positive, encouraging recreational environment for all players,” said Greg Brady, sports program coordinator, Bend Park and Recreation District.

Orientation/training for coaches will be held in early August and on-going staff support is provided. All coaches must complete a volunteer application and criminal background check, as well as online concussion awareness training.

Online volunteer application and background check available at www.bendparksandrec.org.
