Bend Parkway Fatality Crash

BEND, Ore. – A Saturday night collision on the Bend Parkway led to the death of a 25 year-old Bend woman along with a bicyclist who was seriously injured.

The reported crash occurred on the Empire Avenue on-ramp to the southbound parkway, according to Sgt. Eric Hagen.

Suzann Miller who was riding the motorcycle, was pronounced dead at the scene. Bicyclist, 36-year-old Jacob Raines, also of Bend, was taken to St. Charles Bend with serious injuries.

A separate vehicle that was also involved was driven by 18-year-old Jevan Bloss, also of Bend. He was driving a 1999 Volvo, and was unhurt.

An initial police investigation said Miller was riding a 1999 Yamaha motorcycle on the southbound on-ramp when she collided with Raines, who was riding a bicycle on the on-ramp. That resulted in a secondary collision involving Bloss’s car.

The southbound parkway was partially closed and there was a longer closure of the on-ramp for several hours.
