Central Oregon – Attention all fourth graders! Go tell your mom to pick you up a free pass which entitles you to visit our national parks, forests, and other federal lands for a year.
The Every Kid In A Park Program will start its second year Thursday, letting fourth-graders and their families waive the entrance fees at federal parks for a year.
The program’s mission is encourage kids to visit these places, started by the Obama Administration.
For the Deschutes National Forest, there are so many choices, for example, you can visit all day-use sites, like Paulina Lake’s Little Crater area, spots that would otherwise charge $5.
The Every Kid In A Park program also covers holiday tree permits that let people harvest their own holiday trees from Forest Service land beginning in November.
