Bend, Ore. – Some local hikers aren’t too pleased with an anti-tobacco sign – not because of the message, but where its placed.
The sign according to hikers sits right in the middle of a scenic view atop Overturf Butte which block their views of the scenery.
However, the city says the signs are needed to be posted in that location because of neighborhood complaints of smoking and drinking on the trails, and are a good compromise instead of having the area fenced off from the public.
