New Pot Rules Have Central Oregon Pot Dispensaries Scrambling

Statewide – Pot dispensaries in Oregon beginning Saturday must comply to state regulations that call for all new products to be tested by labs, and must be certified by the Oregon Health Authority and licensed by the Oregon Liquor Control Commission.

Throughout the state, only five testing labs are licensed and certifies, including Juniper Analytics, in Bend.

The lack of licensed laboratories is creating a backup as marijuana growers and processors line up to have their product tested so they can put their product on shelves.

As a temporary fix, the state is allowing dispensaries to continue selling products they already have in stock, only if those products are labeled with the phrase- “Does not meet new testing requirements.”

Other packaging and labeling rules also take effect Saturday, including child-resistant packaging.
