Sisters, Ore. – Next spring, construction is expected to begin on a roundabout at the intersection of U.S. Highway 20 and Barclay Drive in Sisters.
Currently, the area is a 2-way stop at the west end of town. The new roundabout is expected to ease traffic backups and improve safety, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation.
A request for bids will go out soon with construction to begin as early as February. The roundabout will be mostly completed by Memorial Day and finished before summer.
ODOT has worked with the city of Sisters to plan and create initial designs for the $3.2 million project.
The city has secured about $360,00 in funding through the Central Oregon Area Commission on Transportation, while the state will directly cover the remaining costs.
