Bend, Ore. A motor home caught fire early Monday morning on NW Florida Ave. Although the occupant and her dog escaped safely, the vehicle and contents were virtually a total loss.
Bend Fire Department personnel responded and extinguished the fire quickly, but not before the flames destroyed the motor home.
The cause was determined to be most likely some combustible materials placed too close to a heat source.
The American Red Cross is helping the owner with recovery.
The Bend Fire Department reminds you that combustible material, such as papers, fabric or wood, can gather and hold heat to the point of ignition if left too close to sources of heat, such as wood stoves, electric heaters and gas heating appliances.
