Officer Shoots Student at High School in Reno, Officials Say

iStock/Thinkstock(RENO, Nev.) —  A resource officer at a Nevada high school shot a student Wednesday, according to the school district.

The Washoe County School District said gunfire from a school district police officer hit a student at Hug High School in Reno. It did not provide any information on the student or what caused the officer to fire his weapon.

The student was transported to the hospital, but the condition was unknown, according to the Reno Police Department.


The school was placed under lockdown following the shooting. Families were asked not to come to the school to pick up their children due to the investigation.

Further information on the incident was not immediately available.
